5 Summer Food & Wine Events Not to Miss

If you missed the Napa Valley Wine Auction this past June, feat not. There are plenty of other wine fueled events – including auctions, taking place from Northern to Southern California and the Central Coast that should keep you happily sipping and swirling until the fall.

Event: Concern Foundation Block Party
Date: July 14th
Location: Paramount Studios, Hollywood

50 restaurants from Akasha to Tavern will serve signature dishes for this year’s 38th Annual Concern Foundation Block Party, The theme is “OH WHAT A NIGHT!” is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Birth of Rock & Roll.” In addition to live music there will be traditional casino style gaming and a live auction features trips and vacation packages with air fare provided by American Airlines. Beverages will include Ventura Limoncello Co., Martian Ranch Wineries and a Stockholm Krystal Vodka Martini Bar. For more information:

Event: East LA Meets Napa
Date: July 20th
Location: Union Station, Los Angeles

The 2012 East LA Meets Napa event at Union Station takes place on July 20, from 6-9 p.m. This unique event brings the community together to celebrate Latino owned restaurants and wineries. Chef John Sedlar from Playa and Rivera serves as the ‘ambassador’ but you can also expect to find other Latino favorites Loteria Grill, Mas Malo, Guelaguetza, and YXTA Cocina Mexicana along with dozens of wines from Adobe Guadalupe to Bodegas Santo Tomas. Event: Central Coast Wine Classic
Date: July 12-15
Location: Paso Robles to Pismo Beach

If you’re interested in tasting food and wines from the Central Coast, head to San Luis Obispo for this annual event. There will be a live auction, wine maker dinners, top chefs from Paso to Pismo and great wines from Hope Family Vineyards to Justin being poured. For more information:

Event: Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival
Date: August 9-12

An extravaganza not to be missed, this year brings back the ‘I Heart Champagne and Caviar’ Event at The Montage; the ‘Celebrity Chef Power Lunch Series’ with pairings such as Michael and Bryan Voltaggio; Ray Garcia and Joe Miller will host a new addition this year of ‘Indulge Santa Monica’ and an ‘Asian All Night Market’ with Roy Choi and Charles Phan, hosted by Andrew Zimmern of Travel Channel’s Bizzare Foods.  For more information:

Date: Labor Day Weekend
Location: Sonoma

Mingle with Sonoma’s top winemakers during a series of lunch, dinners, BBQ’s and parties,  addition to under the Wine Spectator Auction Tent. Each table will be presided over by a renowned Winemaker or Grower who will educate and entertain guest with tales behind their Sonoma wines.
